For sale is a beautiful little Scottish vernacular treacle glaze, dipped, penny bank (money box) or 'penure-pig', 'pinner' or 'Pirley-pigs' from the late 19th century.

- The charming little Scottish vernacular furniture piece is a slotted earthenware money-box for small savings, used esp. by children.

- In the Scottish vernacular mahogany Lum / Scotch chest of drawers form with barley twist side columns in the style of the second half of the 19th Century.

- Likely to be Scottish in origin Rosslyn's pottery in Kirkcaldy produced these fascinating little recreations and were, in the main, covered in a rich brown 'Rockingham' type glaze popular in export markets like North America, which highlights the embossed decoration well.

A highly charming, collectable and beautiful little item which satisfied our vernacular Scottish interest in particular.
